golf swing video slice
Care to evaluate my golf swing? See video…?

I recently changed my swing for my driver–I hit my irons very well, but my driving is sub-par at best. So if you would, hit the link and tell me what you think about my “new” swing. I am hitting it 225-240, with about a 10 yard slice. To compensate, I am aiming for the left of the fairway, and seem to do okay. However, I know I am capable of more reliable drives (straight and 245).

Here’s the link; thanks in advance for your tips!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPfFDE0H_m0

BTW–this my Nike Sasquatch 10.5*…I like it alot =D

Also, in the video–it’s the same swing twice over–the first is regular speed, and the second is in slo-mo…

How tall are you? How long is your driver?

Equipment:
1) Your driver appears a little too long.

2) Your driver appears a little too head-heavy (swingweight too high).

Setup:
1) I can’t tell much about the grip from that angle.

2) Stance is slightly narrow. Widen the stance slightly and point your right foot straight forward–not pointed to the right as in the video.

3) Ball position is ok until you move to the right when you adjust your feet. Then, the ball may be getting too far forward.

4) You seem to really be reaching for the ball.

Swing:
1) Your head rises when you initiate the backswing.

Stop that. Practice by taking very slow swings. Try to imitate your slow motion video with your actual swing. Have you ever seen a hummingbird feeding? Their wings are going very fast, their body is moving and adjusting, but their head focused on the flower and is motionless. Think about imitating the hummingbird in your slow-mo practice swings.

Your head rises when you initiate the backswing. Then, your heads dips when you start the downswing. Next, your head slides forward. Finally, your head pulls back. That is way too much movement if you ever want to consistently hit the ball flush.

2) You are rolling your hands (clubface) open in your backswing. This is part of the reason why the ball is traveling to the right. All this does is introduce a bunch of timing issues into your swing. You need to be eliminating anything that must be timed to hit the ball straight.

3) Balance is an issue that will hinder your advancement.

Your main flaw that must be fixed is your balance. You need to be rock-solid in your balance throughout the swing. This is a MUST!

The next thing you must work on is staying behind the ball. This is a MUST!

The Good:
Now, your swing plane is better than most your age. I like the way you keep your club coming from inside with a tucked right elbow in your downswing.

It is also good that your driver has 10.5° of loft. This is good for your swing speed.

Practice swinging the club very slowly until your head stops moving around and until you develop some balance. That’s your homework: Balance and steady head. Buy ($15) Ben Hogan’s book, “The Five Fundamentals….” His description of the setup is excellent. [Beware: If you read the section on "The Grip" and try it, then, as long as you roll your hands in the take-away, your slice will get much, much, much worse. If you will stop rolling your hands in the take-away, then you will immediately add about 10 to 20 yards to your drives without hitting any harder.]

Post another video once you develop more balance and get that head to stop bobbing around. Practice slowly and use patience. Golf is not a race and it’s not a long drive contest. Now go practice in your room in front of a mirror.

golf tips video
please comment and give tips on my golf swing (video incl.)?

(this is not me, its my boyfriend)

please comment what you think of his golf swing, and if you have any tips they would be much appreciated. open to constuctive criticism.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBk8HMvqHKs

thanks!

My guess is that your boyfriend is a natural athlete. If I had to guess, his average score would be right around an 85 with such a swing (trust me that is very good and would beat most people–myself included).

Without seeing more of his game, I can see a couple of mistakes he is making from just one clip.

1) His feet are too narrow at address. He should widen his stance to get better balance
2) He takes the club too far back. I would have him shorten his swing for more accuracy off the tee.
3) His left foot spins out of the shot at impact. Tell him to angle his foot slightly towards the target when he addresses the ball. Golf shoes would help some as well.
4) The lateral hip movement towards the right (his right) as he takes the club back, is taking away a lot of his power and ability to consistently make solid contact with the ball. Focus on keeping the lower body ‘quite’ throughout the swing.
5) It appears that too much weight is on his left side at address. Tell him to put more weight (not all his weight) on the right foot.

What I love about his swing:
1) Love his tempo–he does not swing too hard at the ball (a good tempo is very hard to teach for some reason)
2) I love his finish position

Tell your boyfriend that he has talent for the game. My guess he is relatively new to the game but is already showing some early success. Good luck.

golf etiquette on the green
Golf etiquette on the green?

In golf, if you are playing as a foursome, how do you know if it is your turn on the green? I need this for a project, so the first one with the right answer gets the BEST ANSWER honor.

The player who is furthest away from the hole, no matter what surface they are on, always has the “honor:, meaning that it’s their turn. When putting, after a player attempts his first putt, he can choose to finish, or remark his ball and wait for his next turn. In fourball match play, if it is your turn to go, you can have your partner putt his ball (it’s your teams turn), even if he is the closest person to the hole.
Usually, if you have putted your first, and you would have to stand in the line of your partner or opponent in order to finish, it’s always good etiquette to mark your ball, and let them go before you finish.

golf exercises for women
Whatever is that in your shorts?

While out jogging in the park, a young chap finds a brand new tennis ball. Seeing nobody around to claim it, he slips it into the pocket of his shorts and continues on.
A few yards from home, he reaches a pedestrian crossing. Waiting for the traffic to stop, a young lady standing next to him can’t help but notice the considerable bulge in his shorts. “Oh my,” she gasps, “whatever is THAT in your shorts?”
“Tennis ball,” replies the young man, still breathless from exercise.
“Oh poor you,” sympathises the woman, “I once had tennis elbow.”
<><><>
Barely 20 minutes after teeing off, a woman stumbles into the golf course clubhouse, grimacing in pain. “What happened?” the club pro asks.
“I got stung by a bee,” she replies.
“Where?”
“Between the first and second holes.”
“Hmmm,” murmurs the pro. “Sounds like your stance was a little too wide.”

Go girl, great jokes! LMAO

golf tips videos
My golf swing…..any tips??!!?

1.Im having troubles in my back swing…..it’s startin to look past parrelle like John Daly got any tips?

2. I looked on video and my takeaway is not on plane ( It’s way inside) any tips?

I have several tips that if executed properly will drastically help your swing.

1. Keep your eyes on the ball until AFTER impact. Not only to envision the ball’s position and depth so you may come on contact with the ball, also because looking at the ball will help to stabilize your swing. Your head is connected to your shoulders, and turning your head on the backswing will sometimes lead to overswinging because your shoulders will have freer backward movement.

2. To prevent overswinging, consciously stop your backswing when your left arm is horizontal against your chest. This will give you control over your swing and as an amateur, if executed properly this will give you more than enough power to hit the ball.

3. When swinging, it is mostly shoulder movement. On the backswing your left shoulder should move to the center as your back is turned and your eyes are still on the ball. Then as you swing down, the right side should replace the left side as you impact the ball.

Good luck and hope my answer helps you.

video golf lessons
Take golf lessons or not?

Would you spend the money to take lessons or just try and figure it out yourself with all of the free advise and videos available for free via the Internet?
I have been playing for a couple of years but still have the driver issues that I am having a hard time fixing. I have a hard time paying someone $100 hour for something I hope I could remedy myself. But fixing this issue (getting off the tee consistently would just make the game more enjoyable.

i have had lessons for years and its worth it. A coach can realise what you are doing wrong in seconds. but make sure you find a good coach

Never thought youd get Butch Harmon golf lessons?

Golf Lessons, which is the Best method?

I am trying to figure out which golf lesson I should approach. The traditional method of going to a PGA pro and learning or the GolfTec lesson with video.

I want to make the most out of my lessons and want to make sure I am getting my money’s worth given, it’s a small mortgage to get one done.
I have read many books, including Hogans 5 lessons, I am just trying to see if a pro will be able to be as sufficient as a video lesson. One thing I did enjoy about the video lesson is the ability to see myself in slow motion.

Go to the pro. He can see the mistakes you are making.
