golf tips for beginners
Have any golf tips for a beginner?

Any useful tips?

If your a beginner, then you will definetly need a glove for your offhand. (if your a righty, your left hand, if your a lefty your right hand) This will keep you from getting blisters. I reccomend going to the driving range and practicing before you go to an actual golf course. Try to aim for certain things they have their, (flags, boats etc.)

Tips to get more distance in my drives?

im looking for some tips to get more distance in my golf drives
i am really skinny (not anorexic)
i can onlt hit it 150 and my friends are hitting them 225-250
and it makes me frustrated so please help me

Go take some lessons from a professional. That will help more than anything. I tried everything, I asked numerous questions on here and everyone told me to take lessons and I did. I lowered my handicap by 10 strokes in 4 lessons. I also added 50 yards to my drives in less than 3 weeks. I was slicing real bad and my instructor fixed it in 2 sessions. I am down to a 8 handicap from a 30+ in 4 months and I only take lessons once a week

What are some good beginners golf clubs?

I am interested in beginning golf, I have played it a couple times and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been looking at golf clubs online but I don’t have a clue as to what brand, kinda, etc would be more compatible for me. I don’t have a lot of money, I was hoping to stay under 150, maybe 175 tops for a complete set. I will take any and all suggestions as to some good quality clubs for a beginner

Callaway x20 or x22irons, Taylormade R7 R9 are also nice

What are your all time favorite golf tips?

I want to know what your all time favorite golf tips are. Not just the obvious ones. Tips that may of helped u a lot with your game. Lets see who can give the best.

Three great drills:

1. Connection drill – take either two small headcovers or two golf gloves and place them under your arms. Using a pitching wedge, make 10 three quarter swings only focusing on not dropping the items under your arms. This is done by some of the best in the business these days – Padraig, Vijay, etc… Just be sure to stick with short shots on this drill. It’s purpose is to get the big & small muscles of the upper body working in sequence together.

2. Balance drill A – Hit 15 shots and with each shot, hold your finish until the ball lands. As simple as it is, it’s a fantastic drill for developing real consistency over the long term. Think this is too simple for your liking, you Tiger & Phil wannabes? Go to your local course and watch the golfers on the range/course. How many of them hold their finishes (and how many of them can break 100)? Now watch 5 minutes of PGA/LPGA Tour golf on TV. How many hold their finishes? And how good are they again? Try it and you’ll surprise yourself.

3. Balance drill B – Place 5 golf balls in a line that’s perpendicular to your target line/foot line, all about 3 inches apart. Back up about ten feet from the golf balls and with club in hand, stand on one leg (for RH golfers, your left leg). W/o using your club as a crutch, hop over to the closest ball and make as balanced a swing as you can, being sure to use your body to turn back & thru (not your hands & wrists).

After impact, try to really get thru the ball to the point that you almost have to hop to maintain your balance. Once you’ve accomplished this, don’t put your right leg down. Remember, you still have 4 more balls to hit.

Once you’ve hit all five golf balls, hop back over to the original spot where you started from and then you can put your right leg back down on the ground. This is much more difficult than it seems, but is a lot of fun, especially for kids who have a decent amount of experience in the game. But trust me, you’ll feel this one.

Try this a few times, then hit ten or so normal shots with both feet in standard position. It’s a great way to teach balance in a golf swing.

golf tips irons
my golf game is ok but im having a hard time getting under the ball when using irons.any tips?

i tend to hit on the top of the ball so it stays low and i cant get any distance.when i try to get under the ball i usually overcompensate and dig into the grass.this problem is adding 20 or more strokes to my game.i do pretty good with my long and short game its just trying to get under the ball without dragging the ground while using irons.I seem to do better with my izzo hybrids but not much better. Please HELP!!!!

Many, many amateurs have a problem with what you are. The basis of the problem is a fault in how you imagine the club working.

The proper way to hit an iron is to contact the ball first with the clubface, then start your divot past the ball. Your swing actually bottoms out an inch and a half or so past the ball with an iron. This means you are accelerating through impact, trapping the ball to make it shoot off the clubface, and creating backspin as well.

Here is a slow motion video of what I am talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20JNb4Ihxgs&feature=related

I think that this visualization should help you quite a bit. When you mentally think you need to “scoop” or “get under” the ball it causes many inconsistencies in how you hit the ball. I would also highly recommend getting lessons from a local PGA instructor, they will help your game much, much more than any piece of equipment and make the game much more enjoyable.

Hope this helps, and good luck!!

golf tips chipping
can anyone give me tips for golf

does anyone know 5 tips to remember for each of the following areas of golf…?

driving
using fairway woods (desperate for tips here)
chipping (again, desperate)
putting

pleeeeeaaaase help me!! any tips at all will help, no matter how small you think they are

Driving:
Keep your eye on the ball.
Don’t move your head.
Make sure your stance is shoulder width or less, the smaller the club, the narrower the space between your feet.
Take a practice swing to see where the club hits on the down swing, then put your ball at that spot.
Don’t hold the club too tight, the club does all the work, not you or your muscles, your job is to bring the club to the ball.

Fairway Woods
Use a 7 wood in heavy grass if you can swing the club head through it. If not, use an iron.
Use a 5 wood if the fairway is fairly level.
Use a 3 wood for a low arching shot, i.e. from under trees, only if there is little turf.
Use a practice swing–see above tip.
To target where your ball will go, look over your left (if right handed) shoulder and line up your shoulder with where you want to go.

Chipping
Practice your irons so you know exactly how far they will go.
You will use your pitching wedge for most shots (under 50 yards for me).
Keep your feet together.
Keep your left arm straight.
Chop out of heavy turf, hit like a putt if nearly level.

Putting
Draw an imaginary line from the hole, through the ball and behind.
Practice how far back you need go to get a given distance.
Always follow through.
Always keep the putter on the imaginary line (never go back so far you curve.
Aim to stop at the hole no matter what.

My golf swing…..any tips??!!?

1.Im having troubles in my back swing…..it’s startin to look past parrelle like John Daly got any tips?

2. I looked on video and my takeaway is not on plane ( It’s way inside) any tips?

I have several tips that if executed properly will drastically help your swing.

1. Keep your eyes on the ball until AFTER impact. Not only to envision the ball’s position and depth so you may come on contact with the ball, also because looking at the ball will help to stabilize your swing. Your head is connected to your shoulders, and turning your head on the backswing will sometimes lead to overswinging because your shoulders will have freer backward movement.

2. To prevent overswinging, consciously stop your backswing when your left arm is horizontal against your chest. This will give you control over your swing and as an amateur, if executed properly this will give you more than enough power to hit the ball.

3. When swinging, it is mostly shoulder movement. On the backswing your left shoulder should move to the center as your back is turned and your eyes are still on the ball. Then as you swing down, the right side should replace the left side as you impact the ball.

Good luck and hope my answer helps you.
