Why was there no Taiwanese flag displayed in Women’s World Golf Championship leaderboard on tele?
Taiwan was placed 3rd in Women’s Golf Championship.
Well done.
But noticably, there was no flag next to their name. Everyone else had a flag, China too.
If the organisers do not recognise Taiwan as a country, why invite them.
Since they did invite them, they recognise Taiwan as an independent country – if so why leave out the flag on leaderboard?
Doesn’t make sense.
They recognize it probably as a sub-group of China, not an independent country.
If you put up the flag, then Chinese officials complain and you have a lot of political turmoil instead of golf. So they just do that instead.

Does anyone know of a local schedule of golf tournaments?
I am trying to get some exposure and want to start playing in as many tournaments as possible (club championships, regional qualifiers, etc., anything as long as they are gross scoring, individual tournaments). I just don’t know where to look. I live in St. Louis, so with “the season” around here being almost over, this would be more for the 2009 season, but I would just appreciate any advice or information. Thanks!
The golfing season is pretty much over as far as tournaments are concerned. Your best bet is to contact the USGA affiliate in Missouri, probably the MSGA ( Missouri State Golf Association ) for their 2009 schedule of tournaments. If it is anything like the Connecticut organization it will give you all the qualifiers for each state championship, the championship date, all the qualifiers for the USGA sponsored tournaments with dates and one day competitions and dates as well as the scheduled courses. Where can I buy an authentic golf course flagstick and flag?
My father-in-law is building a 3-hole putting green in his backyard in the spring and for the holidays my wife and I would like to give him 3 authentic golf flagsticks with embroidered flags. We can handle the embroidery locally, but I’ve had no luck finding anyone who sells the flagsticks online. The key is we do not want the imitation, 3-piece flagsticks they sell all over the place. We want the real thing!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if you have a website recommendation please provide a link, thanks.

According to the National Golf Foundation there are about 16,000 golf courses in the United States.
Florida has the most, with about 1,100, followed by California at 950.

golf rules?
what are the rules for match play? i mean how do you win each hole and all that. are all golf course par 70 or par 72 or how many pars are there on all golf course? for match plays, i would like to know how you can win a hole or lose a hole also. i am very confused about this. please help me . thanks a lot.
Match play selects a winner for each hole played. If both players have the same score on a hole it is a tie and no one wins. You can have 12 strokes on one hole and your opponent only 3 to beat you, but you just lose 1 hole. Usually you play an 18 hole match. First to win 10 holes will win the match. Many times a match will be won before hole 18. An example might be that you are 4 holes ahead going to hole 16 and there are only 3 holes left to be played, so the match is over 4 holes up with 3 to play.
The majority of golf courses are between par 70-72. Virtually all holes will be par 3,4, or 5. It is common to have 4 par 3’s, 4 par 5’s, and 10 par 4’s. This would be par 72. Remember all courses are different and you are playing against others at the same course. Everyone plays on the same course. Lot’s of sports will have different tracks, fields, etc. But as long as you play the same course, track, or field all have the same chance.
