Golf Fitness?

Im 15 5′7″, and weigh about 135. I play on the golf team for my school and it seems at every match all the players I am against hit the ball a lot farther than me. What are some good ways to get stronger and what areas of my body should i focus on? Changing my swing is not an option right now so please don’t suggest that. Thank you

Hello

Actually in order to gain more power you should start working on the big muscles in your legs and torso, thats where all the pros get their power from.

Its always good to balance out a fitness program but in golf the legs equate to power. Also some good stretching exersizes will help.

Be prepared for the long haul though because nothing changes rapidly.

golf swing speed exercises
How can I increase my golf swing speed (suggested exercises or technique tips)?

I am a 2 handicap, current head speed around 105mph.
I am a male, age in 30’s, 5′10″, 170 lbs, in good physical condition.

Without seeing your swing, knowing how often you play, practice and how far you hit the ball now Herer are some suggestions

Club head speed and solid contact equal distance

Timing is the key for this to work. Here are some articles that should give you more club head speed.

There are three checkpoints that deal with your wrist hinge. During your back swing, the top of your swing, and just past impact

golf elbow pain
Golf elbow pain for 1 year — 3 cortisone shots, many months of rest and still in pain. Any suggestions?

I would get a second opinion, if you haven’t already. While the diagnosis may be “right”, there may be an underlying complication that prevents your elbow from healing completely. These complications can include, but are not limited to, torn ligaments, fissure in the bone, autoimmune disorder (like rheumatoid arthritis – RA – this would be a longshot, though, since more women are affected by autoimmune disorders than men), a sleep disorder, poor physical therapy – there may be something else out there that you haven’t found yet, water retention, gout.. so many things can be an issue. If you’ve only seen your general practitioner (GP), it might be time to see a specialist. Sometimes a GP will get to the end of what he/she knows and then give up without making a referral to a specialist. Hopefully your GP isn’t like that!

If you haven’t seen an orthopedist, that’s where I would head. (I’m thinking an orthopedist is where you’ve been, but it’s not mentioned how many different docs you’ve seen.)

If the pain is something your doc just expects you to endure, and you’ve tried every avenue to find help, then I would suggest finding a Pain Management specialist. Often, they can provide tips and advice that many docs just aren’t aware of to help you reduce the pain.

I hope you find answers soon!

golf exercises
Golf Exercises?

I am 15 and I decided it is time to go full out golf. I am getting lessons, have a range pass, a membership, basically everything related to the course. But while I am at my house, in the winter or the summer, what exercises should I do to improve my game?

stretching your upper body could really benefit your game. obviosuly, the more flex you can get out of your torso the better because that means you can take your swing back further.

you could also do pushups to gain upper body strength.

long walks/runs will help you out too. im not sure if your on the school team–but most schools require their players to walk. so anything you can do to prepare yourself for this would benefit you greatly.

good luck! i admire your determination and initiative at 15!!!

golf yoga exercises
Yoga for Sports Exercises?

Hey, Are there any good Yoga exercises for sports (soccer, football, track, golf) I couldn’t really find anything I really wanted.

I was convinced to start yoga to improve my sports performance, but I just don’t know any good exercises.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I doubt you’re going to find any yoga exercises to improve your sports performance, considering the fact that Yoga is designed to relax an individual.

BUT, try and find some good Yoga stretching techniques, that will help you become more flexible at sports.

Good luck!

golf and tennis elbow
Any ideas for golf/tennis elbow?

Has anyone got any ideas of how to treat or help golf elbow, or tennis elbow

Rest is the main thing. Alternate hot & cold pads can help stimulate blood flow to help healing. The injections should be a last resort; some people complain of the injection itself being very painful and it doesn’t always work.
