What are some fun on course betting games for golf trips with 8 or more people.?
I organize golf tourneys and run a league, here are a few ideas:
Assuming your group has a wide range of handicaps.
Have Closest to the pin on Par 3’s
Have a closest to the pin (2nd shot) on a couple of Par 4’s
Have a couple of longest putts (made) on different holes
Use a modified stableford system for point scoring – with handicaps – I generally use 80% of each persons handicap to reduce sandbagging
If you have each person put in $20, you can then split it amongst the prizes.
I also put on a alternate shot tourney – you all play the first 18 hole round then after the round you determine partners based on the previous round. You play alternate shot with both balls and write down the score of the lowest ball. This way everyone gets to play a full round of golf. Again, collect X amount of dollars and then pay out the 1st 2 places if you only have 8 people.
Within each 4 some, we play a game called WOLF. You can get information on the web about the game. It is a great game if all 4 players have similar handicaps.
What are the odds of getting hit in the eye with a golf ball on a trampoline?
was recently on a trampoline and got nailed in the eye with a golf ball.
Id say the odds would increase the closer you were to a golf course.
The fact you were on a trampoline may have added to that but still it could of happened while you were standing on a deck.
A group of 8 golfers play there own ball in a match, handicaps are from 6 to a 23, if a rule is in play for the match that states the most a player can take on a hole is a double bogey, is not the player with a 23 handicap getting 5 strokes off the top??
To add more info, maybe the 23 handicap should take triple bogey on holes that are handicap the 5 most difficult. The problem I have is a 8 handicap shooting a 81 is a net 73, however the 23 handicap shooting 94 is a net 71. But, the 23 is in his pocket on 4 holes that are handicap the most difficult. His score should be 98???
Yes…but doesn’t the 23 deserve the advantage that the handicap system gives them? In this format the high handicapper will have an advantage as they will most likely have more holes over double bogey.
What does “the field” refer to for golf betting odds?
I thought it was something like the odds for the players below the top 15? And top 15 refers to the top 15 odds? Or is it something else?
The field refers to all of the players in the tournament. If you made a wager with a friend about the outcome of a tournament and he or she says I’ll take Tiger and you can have the field, that means that Tiger has to beat the rest of the players in the tournament in order for you to lose.
