Is it okay to play best ball golf when you’re not actually in a Texas Scramble tournament?
I’m going golfing with my hubby tomorrow. We used to go a handful of times a year (started about 6 years ago) but then I was pregant & it’s tough to get a sitter for a newborn early on a Sunday morning… so we never played for the past few years.
I’ve been 2x this year. I love it! I forgot how fun it was!! We were never GOOD (I only drive like 100-140 yds so we play the local par 3 courses mostly – usually 9-holes and we score like 45-50 with a 10-second rule in play and a couple mutually agreed upon do-overs when we both mess up 
I like the walk & being outdoors & the challenge of pulling the right club & then actually having a decent shot with it. I like the practice. In several years time maybe we WILL be better at it. We’re thinking we should both go take a lesson or two.
My question: if it’s just the 2 of us, playing for fun & we both agree, could we play a best ball game or is that weird? Would it be strange seeing 2 beginners playing best ball on a course?

Is it normal for a golf club head to break & go flying 200 yards?
OK so i bought a $20 on sale Wilson #3 Hybrid at big 5 sporting goods. Regular price is $100 so i thought i got a decent deal..
So I go to the driving range & halfway through my bucket of balls everything is going cool then on my next swing the head of the club breaks off & goes flying 200 yards…
I was like WTH..this was my first time ever at a range..
The guy at the club said the club i bought had stress fracture cracks so it was defective..
Did this ever happen to you?
I know i bought a cheap club but can this happen with expensive equipment?
Oh yeah that happens to me all the time.

Best Golf GPS app for Iphone?
Looking to get a golf GPS app for my iphone, there are 3 I was looking at. Have you heard anything about them? Ive been reading a ton of reviews on the 3 and for the most part they all seem good and accurate .. Apps ( Golf Logix – no price,. ViewTI Golf – $29, and Golf Shot Golf gps for $30 )
I haven’t tried any of them yet, but my plan is to try the GolfLogix app first, as it has a 24 hour free trial period and then it’s $40 a year. Garmin does make great GPS products and they have lots of courses. My Dad has the GolfLogix handheld unit and likes it very much. If I don’t fall in love with the GolfLogix, I will try the ViewTI as it gets really good reviews a one-time fee rather than annual. I don’t think they have a trial period though.

Does golf ball compression ratings still mean anything when choosing a golf ball to play?
Does a player with a slow swing speed/ball speed still need to consider a low compresion ball when choosing a ball in todays market?
Technically yes. Practically speaking, it’s not likely that you will notice unless you are a scratch golfer.
If you are a duffer like me, you buy your balls based on how tough the cover is and how cheap they are.
