golf grips lamkin
Advice on Lamkin Golf Grips?

I am not a golfer but my fiance is and he mentioned wanting lamkin golf grips for his clubs and I’m not sure what I’m buying. I don’t want to ask him because it will ruin one of his Christmas gifts. Help me out. What exactly do I need to look for? He was Ping Clubs if that helps!

If your fiance is mentioning Lamkin grips it is more than likely in reference to their new dual density torsion control grip which comes in a variety of sizes and colours. Lamkin’s standard grip the Crossline wouldn’t be the talk of the town although it is a pretty decent standard grip. Most golf enthusiasts are switching to the new multi layer or dual density grips that offer more feel. The Ping clubs you mention will require a .600″ grip size and you can expect to pay approx. $7.50 per grip installed. Why not get a gift certificate from a golf retailer that can do the job and treat your fiance to a great new set of grips custom installed? Good luck and what a lucky guy he is.

golf the bull
Should you BAN Boxing, Bull Fighting and Golf?

I mean:
Boxing: Kills people or leave them either crippled or brain damaged for life…
Bull Fighting: I know people will eat the meat but, there’s no necessity to go through such incredible t-o-r-t-u-r-e?!
Golf: To me it’s more “an activity” or even as I do it, as a “therapy”…
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Do we just “make up” sports for “thee money god”???
Let me know, and also if there’s more so called sports out there…

There is no comparison between bull fighting and Boxing…

bulls don’t pick to be killed, so that definitely has to go

boxers however know what they are doing. and they dont just die, mostly it’s older boxers that die, that’s why theres an age limit they shouldn’t go past. brain injury is possible, but boxing is much more safer now than it was before, less rounds. quicker stoppages.

Golf definitely has to go, just b/c it’s lame lol

how to build a golf chipping mat?

I was wondering if it possible to build a golf mat to practice my irons on. I am looking for a cheap solution and there are some on ebay with 1/2 inch turf and .6 inch foam on the bottom for $80 shipped. I was wondering if there is anything special about this, that i couldent just go to home deopt and build it myself. Thanks for the help and insight in advance

You can buy a pre-made one for less than $80:

golf swing video slice
Care to evaluate my golf swing? See video…?

I recently changed my swing for my driver–I hit my irons very well, but my driving is sub-par at best. So if you would, hit the link and tell me what you think about my “new” swing. I am hitting it 225-240, with about a 10 yard slice. To compensate, I am aiming for the left of the fairway, and seem to do okay. However, I know I am capable of more reliable drives (straight and 245).

Here’s the link; thanks in advance for your tips!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPfFDE0H_m0

BTW–this my Nike Sasquatch 10.5*…I like it alot =D

Also, in the video–it’s the same swing twice over–the first is regular speed, and the second is in slo-mo…

How tall are you? How long is your driver?

Equipment:
1) Your driver appears a little too long.

2) Your driver appears a little too head-heavy (swingweight too high).

Setup:
1) I can’t tell much about the grip from that angle.

2) Stance is slightly narrow. Widen the stance slightly and point your right foot straight forward–not pointed to the right as in the video.

3) Ball position is ok until you move to the right when you adjust your feet. Then, the ball may be getting too far forward.

4) You seem to really be reaching for the ball.

Swing:
1) Your head rises when you initiate the backswing.

Stop that. Practice by taking very slow swings. Try to imitate your slow motion video with your actual swing. Have you ever seen a hummingbird feeding? Their wings are going very fast, their body is moving and adjusting, but their head focused on the flower and is motionless. Think about imitating the hummingbird in your slow-mo practice swings.

Your head rises when you initiate the backswing. Then, your heads dips when you start the downswing. Next, your head slides forward. Finally, your head pulls back. That is way too much movement if you ever want to consistently hit the ball flush.

2) You are rolling your hands (clubface) open in your backswing. This is part of the reason why the ball is traveling to the right. All this does is introduce a bunch of timing issues into your swing. You need to be eliminating anything that must be timed to hit the ball straight.

3) Balance is an issue that will hinder your advancement.

Your main flaw that must be fixed is your balance. You need to be rock-solid in your balance throughout the swing. This is a MUST!

The next thing you must work on is staying behind the ball. This is a MUST!

The Good:
Now, your swing plane is better than most your age. I like the way you keep your club coming from inside with a tucked right elbow in your downswing.

It is also good that your driver has 10.5° of loft. This is good for your swing speed.

Practice swinging the club very slowly until your head stops moving around and until you develop some balance. That’s your homework: Balance and steady head. Buy ($15) Ben Hogan’s book, “The Five Fundamentals….” His description of the setup is excellent. [Beware: If you read the section on "The Grip" and try it, then, as long as you roll your hands in the take-away, your slice will get much, much, much worse. If you will stop rolling your hands in the take-away, then you will immediately add about 10 to 20 yards to your drives without hitting any harder.]

Post another video once you develop more balance and get that head to stop bobbing around. Practice slowly and use patience. Golf is not a race and it’s not a long drive contest. Now go practice in your room in front of a mirror.

online golf games for kids
Do people really think they can get viable swing tips online, here?

It seems that every time someone logs in here looking for swing advice the same usual culprits start preaching, usually saying to do this or do that – but does anyone stop to think just who this information is coming from?

It seems to me that getting swing tips online seems to be a risky proposition — as you never know if you’re getting advice from a pro (highly unlikely), or some 14 year old kid (school’s out for summer), or a 20-something handicap hacker (that’s just as likely to be worse at the game than the person asking).

Yes, I’m always suggesting for people to “check with the pro at your course for some lessons” – guilty as charged. Because when it comes down to it do you want instruction from someone that actually knows something, or some online poser that thinks they know something?

Golf’s already a hard enough game as it is, and getting confused by a lot of misinformation seems counterproductive.

Thoughts?????????????

exactamundo dude.

i don’t even read this section because of all the rampant stupidity. the gig is that the idiots coming here are looking for a band aid fix for a broken arm, so they might as well be getting advice from these idiot posers giving the crap advice. stupid is what stupid does, they are both getting what they deserve. the guru-poser-pro-wanna-be feels like the king of the world for posting his stupidity, and the newbie that asked the problem will wander around for the rest of the summer wondering why they suck worse than before they logged on here while the rest of us just sit back and laugh. it’s like a really bad reality show on television.

i think we all know who you are talking about: the guru-poser who logs in on every swing question and thinks it dumb that people get referred to a golf pro for lessons, and the 14yo kid who seems to have so much spare time on his hands since he must be on restriction or house arrest all summer who shows how old he is by saying building a golf course costs 100-thou, asking if a starter set of clubs are good for himself, and then giving out golf jobs advice to a job seeker.

i think we’ve all been at the driving range where there’s some old pompous dude stalking around up and down the range trying to tell everybody what they’re doing wrong, we always call those idiots “Ranger Ricks” and just shake our heads at them in disgust. Their penalty will be to die old and alone because nobody will be able to stand to be around them.
all the punk kids today seem to have an opinion on everything while having a high opinion of themselves and demand respect from their elders, and unfortunately they’ve been given an outlet because of the Worldwide Web, and that’s why people came up with the name “Trolls” for them since their only mission is to stir the pot and create dischord. Their penalty will be to grow up, and then reap the benefits of a world totally screwed up because of their actions, will get fired from a bunch of jobs for not following the rules, and have kids of their own that will be even less respectful and more troublesome than they are.
