cheap golf balls and tees

Why do Titleist ProV1 golf balls turn brown after a few impacts?

until recently I played only Maxfli golf balls. While trying to add a few yards to my drive, I tried the Titleist ProV1x. I like the ball, it feels great and liked the results. However, at the end of the round, I had a ball that had brown scuffs on it. They didn’t wash off and I am assuming they are from impact. Is this because of the difference between the soft cover as compared to the harder cover of the cheaper balls? I want a ball that is long off the tee, any suggestions.

Thanks

Yes they are from impact, but it’s the paint scuffing off. The underlying surface is actually a tan shade. For the “best” ball around, they didn’t bother to fix that issue for the last five years.

I switched to the NXT Tour a year ago, and they are about 5 yards longer in most situations. However, they have their own cover issues. The dimples wear very quickly. My game does not demand excellence so it’s not that big a deal though. At almost half the cost I like them just fine. Good luck.
