golf cart batteries 8 volt

golf cart batteries can you change 4 12 votl to 8 6 volt?
I have a 2006 club car 48 volt lifted cart with 4 12v batteries and am on the verge of having to get new batteries since there origional and not holding a charge long enough. Can i go to 8 6v batteries in this cart and will this allow for longer run times for a hunting cart to cover more area?
Any advice and tips will be appreceated.
Thank you,
It’s possible to connect eight 6v batteries in series to make a single 48v battery. But all of the batteries MUST be the same size and capacity or you can overheat and destroy the lower capacity battery.
All 6v & 12v batteries are really a bunch of 2v batteries connected in series. You’d be doing the same with eight 6v batteries.
The major question is the physical space needed to mount eight batteries. Also the amp hour capacity of the 6v batteries must be the same or greater as the 12v batteries or you won’t get the endurance/range. More batteries doesn’t necessarily mean longer endurance.
