Can I get into a competitive Virginia college?

My stats…
- 3.3 GPA
- 1820 on SAT’s
- 620 on U.S. History SAT II
- 590 on English Lit SAT II
- 5 AP’s
- Captain of golf team
- Sports and in-depth editor of newspaper
- Two national awards for sports writing
- Contribute to local high school sports magazine

I’m looking at Virginia Tech, James Madison, Christopher Newport and George Mason. Do I have a shot?

It looks like you have a shot at some or all of them. The two national awards should help.

Your GPA my hurt you. If your 3.3 is a weighted GPA, then it may not be strong. In my county, a 3.3 in honors classes would be between a C and a C+. Obviously your grades are more important than your GPA. Your APs should help.
