Golf handicap………?

I am just going back into playing golf after a 5 year lay off.
I am fully aware of the stableford scoring rules, it’s just the handicap i cant remember, etc: if i played off 24, on a par 72, how do i calculate to what handicap i played too on the day.
UK, un- modified rules only folks.
Sunday just gone i scored, 38 points on a par 72, stableford, and was playing off 28 (not a bandit folks), so i would appreciate it if any kind folk could just jog my memory on how to determine what i played too.
Many thanks in advance.
Thanks Damo, and thanks to everyone who answered, well appreciated.

It now makes sense, Happy new year.

Any stableford event is calculated as such…

Nett Par always equals 36 points (No matter what par the course, Nett par on every single hole would give you 2 points, therefore 18 x 2 points = 36)

On the Sunday that you had 38 points, which means you shot a 70 Nett (2 points above the Nett Par, means 2 shots below rating). keep in mind anything above 36 points is playing below the par of the course.

If you add 28 (your handicap) to 70 you have had 98 shots for the round.

That particular day you played to a 26 handicap (Thats working off the CCR being 72).
